Who am I? Who is the Storm Worm?

Today's my birthday, I was born 3.3 decades ago, at around 6:10 in the morning. I've always enjoyed my birthdays. I tend to take the time to reflect on this day, remembering where I came from, while thinking about where I'm going.

On some levels identity is fluid, always changing, yet on the other hand there are constants that go through our lives as threads that bend but remain relatively the same.

Early this morning I went over to my parent's house and went through some old photos. It was interesting to look back at myself from the perspective of where I currently am. I couldn't help but think if only I knew then what I know now. Though that also begs the question, do I really want to know now what I'll know in the future? I'm not so sure, though at the same time sometimes I think I do.

While listening to Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club this morning I found myself meditating across time, my memories blending into a coherent vision. It was an awesome experience, and ironically resulted in me feeling healthier than I have in months.

On facebook I've been playing with my profile photo, going through various archetypes of my identity, almost in a reverse, Merlin style order.

A long time ago (thought not in a galaxy far away) I started writing a book tentatively called "Who am I: Identity in the Age of the Internet" that was to be published by Arbeiter Ring Press out of Winnipeg. I honestly intended to finish the book, I still do, its just way bigger than I had initially thought, and I just can't write it without it being as it needs to be, fulfilling the vision I have for it. So one day (with help from Emily perhaps) I will finish this book, though it will have a different title, and would almost certainly be a book freely available on the Internet rather than published by a particular press.

In the mean time, I've been wondering, who is the Storm Worm? Am I the Storm Worm? Are my computers infected with this intelligent and sophisticated new computer entity? I wrote another feature article for cbcnews.ca that describes the rise of the Storm Worm. Check it out!
